long island sound in distance

Sound Reach, located in Guilford, CT, was recently recommended in "The Unofficial Guide to Bed & Breakfasts in New England" (MacMillan). The B&B stands on a secluded hilltop with a distant view of Long Island Sound on clear days. The park-like grounds are extremely private and no road is visible from the house. There are perennial gardens, an herb garden, a spacious deck, and a terrace. Dense woods lie beyond the house, bringing frequent visitors such as deer and wild turkeys, as well as many types of song birds, and the wildflowers are exceptional. The property is a nature lover's delight. Hiking and cross-country ski trails are steps away.

Sound Reach was built in 1968 by a three-generation team of the Bullard family. The exterior is made of cedar logs and was built around a four feet wide antique door with a brass lion's head knocker which the Bullards brought from London. The interior is spacious and Scandinavian in feel. Central rooms have cathedral ceilings with skylights, and all rooms in the house have two exposures.
